What does ANSI 297.1 on glass mean?
Tuesday, July 17, 2018
It is the number of the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standard for safety glass. Since it is updated every few years, the standard number is usually followed by the year of the revision that it meets, which also means that the glass was manufactured with a few years of that year.
To learn about the different types of safety glass and the meaning of the other letters and numbers around the ANSI standard number, go to our blog post How can I tell if a window or glass door is safety glass? And visit Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Safety Tempered Glass for links to all of our articles about safety tempered glass.
