Can a modular home be moved?
Tuesday, February 25, 2020
Just about any home can be moved by a professional house mover, even a slab-on-grade home. A modular is definitely easier than a site-built home, but not as simple as moving a manufactured/mobile home—which is built on a steel undercarriage, and attachment locations for tow bar and wheels, to make it comparatively easy to relocate.
Some modular homes are even delivered and installed with a steel undercarriage, and are simpler to move than a typical modular without the steel undercarriage. Even then, because they must be placed over a permanent foundation and tied down to meet local building codes, it’s not simple. They are not designed to be moved.
