How can I tell age of National Comfort Products heat pump or air conditioner from serial number?
Thursday, April 16, 2020
National Comfort Products is a manufacturer of thru-the-wall HVAC systems for multi-family construction. The second and third digits of the serial number are encoded to indicate the year of manufacture, based on the listing below:
32 = late 1998, 33 = 1999, 34 = 2000
35 = 2001, 36 = 2002, 43 = 2003
44 = 2005, 46 = 2006, 47 = 2007
48 = 2008, 49 = 2009, 50 = 2010
51 = 2011, 52 = 2012, 53 = 2013
54 = 2014, 55 = 2015, 56 = 2016
57 = 2017, 58 = 2018, 59 = 2019
and so forth. So, for example, 34921174 would be 2009
Also, for units built before 9/30/98, the second and third digits after the letter “B" are the actual year of manufacture. So, B96214128 is 1996.
