Is a ceiling required in a garage by code?

A ceiling is not required in an attached garage, but fire separation of 1/2” drywall, or the equivalent, between garage and living area of home is necessary per code. So, if you don’t have a drywall garage ceiling, then the wall between garage and house must extend up to the roof sheathing.
