Are Westinghouse electrical panels dangerous?
Friday, January 7, 2022
We know of no recalls or documented design/safety problems with Westinghouse electrical panels. But Westinghouse was one of the first manufacturers of circuit breaker panels, producing them from 1927 to 1995. Many of their panelboards we see that are still in place are from the 1950s thru 1970s, are at—or way past—the end of an average serviceable lifespan of 50 years. This makes them subject to the typical problems of old age: corrosion of the panel board and mechanical failure of the breakers. So replacement is recommended.
