How do I find the age of a Midea heat pump or air conditioner from the serial number?
Monday, February 21, 2022
The first two numbers after a the letter “V” are the year of manufacture. So the serial number V193157328 indicates production in 2019. Here’s a diagram of the sequence from a Midea owner’s manual.
However, there are a few models shown online that have the year of manufacture at the third and fourth numbers after the “V” so, if the first two numbers don’t seem right, you may have to determine which pair of numbers makes more sense—based on condition of the unit, year of construction or remodeling of the home, and year of approval seal by a certified testing lab as marked on the data plate.
For the age of another brand or manufacturer, go to our blog post How do I determine the age of my air conditioner? If you need to determine the size of the unit, go How do I find the size in tons of a Midea heat pump or air condtioner from the model number?
