Do I need a tie-down inspection to get mobile home insurance in Florida?
Tuesday, June 21, 2022
Whether an insurance company will require a tie-down inspection for you to get coverage on your mobile/manufactured home depends on four variables:
Which Company - Some insurors have stricter requirements than others. Also, the standards can change over time.
Location - Homes near the coast or in South Florida are more likely to need a tie-down inspection.
Year of Home - Older homes were installed to a lesser tie-down standard than ones since 2000, and are more likely to require an inspection.
Park or Owned Land - At the time of this article, one company writes insurance on homes in a park without a tie-down inspection that were manufactured in the mid-1970s or newer, while homes on owned land must be at least mid-1990s.
