Can a Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve (TPR) and Thermal Expansion Pressure Relief Valve share the same discharge pipe?
Wednesday, February 14, 2024
No. Florida Residential Building Code [P2804.6.1(4)] and the International Residential Code (IRC) require that the discharge piping “serve a single relief device and shall not connect to piping serving any other relief device or equipment." The photo at the top of the page is an example of how not to do it. The Thermal Expansion Pressure Relief Valve (top arrow) is connected to the same drain as the Temperature and Pressure Relief (TPR) Valve.
